  • 24 August - 30 August

    Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1and use them in the following MIG welding activities.

    Mon: Locker/coverall handout

    MIG welder cart assembly/welder maintenance and set up ( clean and service machine, contact tip, nozzle) and test weld machines. Run duty cycle times on each 110v and 220v machines for proper operation.

    Tue: Welding review /welder set up -voltage, wire speed, gas and proper stick out. Activity tune and practice plug weld on 20gauge and 18 gauge metal thickness.

    Wed: Welding review-Welder parts/welding terminology. Activity tune and practice bead weld on 20gauge and 18 gauge metal thickness.

    Thurs: Welding review- welding speed/welding angle (90,70). Activity tune and practice bead weld on 20gauge and 18 gauge metal thickness.

    Fri: Welding project

  • 31 August - 6 September

    Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and complete welding project. Students will create a simulated frame rail out of 20gauge metal, they will each be given a sheet with pre determine specs on it. They will have to take that information and transfer it to metal (precise measuring, cutting, grinding, welding)

    Mon: MIG welding projects -students will begin measuring and cutting the metal needed for there welding projects.

    Tue: MIG welding Projects- students will begin measuring and cutting the metal needed for there welding projects.

    Wed: MIG welding projects- students will plug weld their simulated frame rails together.

    Thurs: MIG welding projects-Students will grind their plug welds smooth, and cut frame rail in half and begin I-CAR frame splice.

    Fri- MIG welding projects- Use bead/stitch welding to weld frame rail back together grind welds smooth. Projects due at end of day

          Tue: Infinity- Finish repairing parts/prep deck lid for paint. Civic- wash and prep/mask roof for paint. VW- sand roof prep for color change.

          Wed: Infinity- prep windshield pillars for paint/ feather edge repair areas for primer. Civic- Paint roof and quarter panels. VW - Mask roof for paint.

          Thurs: Infinity- Mask repair areas for primer. Civic- Wet sand roof prep for buff. VW - paint roof black( sealer, base, clear).

          Fri: Infinity- Finish masking and prime repair areas. Civic- Finish buffing roof. VW - Wet sand and buff/ detail for delivery.

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          Mon: 1957 Chevy - Make tail light brackets(1/4" billet aluminum) then polish/Begin laying out wire for stereo system. Infinity- Prime hood and passenger fender/prep driver door, and deck lid. Civic- Wet sand and buff/polish roof. Jeep- wet sand buff driver door scratches.

          Tue: 1957 Chevy - Bolt tail light brackets to bed and bolt up tail lights, prep for wiring/Finish laying out wire for stereo system. Infinity- block primed areas (hood, passenger fender) and prep for paint. Civic- Scuff doors( front and rear both sides) and fenders and prep for paint.

          Wed: 1957 Chevy- connect stereo head unit and speakers. Infinity- scuff sand new front bumper cover, new driver fender/clean hood prep for paint. Civic- Mask vehicle and clean for paint.

          Thurs: 1957 Chevy - polish truck bed. Infinity- connect light align hood and finish prepping parts for paint. Civic- paint (sealer, base, and clear)

          Fri: 1957 Chevy- finish polishing rest of truck. Infinity - refinish front cover doors and hood. Cruze- full detail( wash, buff, wax).

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          Mon: 1957 Chevy- finish buffing truck /vacuum interior. Civic- Put on front and rear bumper covers. Infinity- Finish masking body and paint/wet sand hood 2000 grit.

          Tues: 1957 Chevy- Polish entire truck. Civic- Install all door handles and mirrors, then begin putting interior door panels together. Infinity- Wet sand driver fender and dirt nib front cover.

          Wed: 1957 Chevy- Detail engine compartment. Civic- finish installing interior trim panels/ Detail interior (complete). Infinity- Buff hood, driver fender and bumper cover.

          Thurs: Denali- remove and repair front bumper cover. Civic- finish detailing interior/Begin exterior detail. Infinity- Finish buffing parts/begin wet sanding w/2000 grit blend panels of vehicle.

          Fir:1st per UTI rep. Denali - refinish front cover. Civic- finish exterior detail/ check all lights and electrical components/prep for delivery. Infinity- Finish buffing /polish.

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          Mon: 1957 Pick up- finish up final wiring/prep for final detail and delivery. Fire Truck- strip body and fix dent on driver bed/weld up holes that are no longer needed.

          Tue: No School

          Wed: 1951 Chevy- Detail engine compartment/shampoo carpets and mats, Cruze- Refinish complete bumper cover. Fire Truck- continue to strip body and fix mudded areas. Tahoe- repair dent on driver quarter panel and prime.

          Thurs: 1951 Chevy-  polish all stainless steel bolts and chrome accessories in engine compartment. Cruze- wet sand and buff rear bumper cover. Fire truck Finish up welding and continue striping all painted areas to bare metal. Tahoe- prep quarter panel/mask and pre-clean for paint.

          Fri: 1951 Chevy- remove and paint all pices that need touch up in engine compartment. Cruze- remove old cover replace with newly painted cover vacuum and wash and prep for delivery.Tahoe- Paint and clear driver quarter panel.

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          Mon: 1951 Chevy- Buff/polish complete vehicle. Taurus-Remove and repair rear bumper cover. Tahoe- put on new moldings/dirt nib and buff quarter panel/wash and prep vehicle for delivery.

          Tue: 1951 Chevy- Re-install all miscellaneous parts that have been repainted in engine compartment. Taurus- Prep and clean bumper cover for paint. Fire truck- Continue to strip painted areas to bare metal. T-Bird- Weld striker plate back on and re-shim driver door.

          Wed: 1951 Chevy- place on lift degrease complete under carriage of vehicle/prep wash and touch up with chassis paint where needed. Taurus - Paint rear bumper cover. F-150 replace front bumper

          Thurs: 1951 Chevy- finish up under carriage. Taurus- re-install  rear bumper cover, wash vehicle and prep for delivery. F-150- wash and prep for delivery.

          Fri: 1951 Chevy- wash/wax/load on trailer finial check for show. Fire Truck strip painted areas and fix dents on passenger side od bed.

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          Mon: Fire truck- continue body work and strip paint. Snow blower- weld up handle and fabricate bracket. Civic- buff hood and passenger rear door/wash exterior.

          Tue: Fire Truck-continue body work and strip paint. Snow blower- grind welds smooth and paint bracket and repair area. GMC- replace driver headlight.

          Wed: Escalade- buff driver side/wash. Jetta- wash wax. Highlander- Wash wax

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

          mon: Ram- weld bed side (driver) begin body work Passenger side(dura glass). BMW- begin dent repair Both front and rear doors on both sides of vehicle.70 impala- Finish welding lower quarter panel on driver side, finish welding driver lower fender patch.

          Tue: Ram- grind welds on driver bed side and prep for filler application/Duraglass, Sand duraglass on passenger side and apply  light weight body filler. BMW- 120 all repair areas followed by featheredge sanding scratches. 70 impala- Grind all welds on lower quarter and fender and apply Duraglass.

          Wed:

          Thurs: Fire truck- sand all painted areas w/80 grit. Cruze- block all primed areas 320 dry followed by 600 wet. Low-rider bike raffle- finish grinding frame and prepping for filler/ apply filler over welded areas sand w/80  repeat as necessary followed by 120 grit.

          Fri- Fire truck- Sand all painted areas w/80 grit. Cruze- prep all blend panels w/1500 wet followed by red scuff on all panels to be painted.

          Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop

          mon: Fire truck - Sand all painted areas w/80 grit. Cruze- clean and wash entire vehicle and mask for paint. low-rider bike - base/clear.

          Tue: Fire truck- Sand all painted areas w/80 grit. Cruze- base and clear repair areas. low-rider bike- begin assembly of bike (sprocket/crank rear wheel fenders and chain).

          Wed. Fire Truck - sand all painted areas w/80 grit. Cruze- wet sand areas in need and prep for buff. low-rider bike finish assembly.

          Thurs: Review for final exams (welding, vehicle construction)

          Fri: Review for final exams -(measuring vehicle damage/bumper and fastener replacement /replacement parts)

            • 11 January - 17 January

              Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

              Mon: Acura- repair damages areas then feather edge, mask off repair areas and apply 2 coats of primer. Fire Truck- clean and place in booth, mask off appropriate areas. Monte Carlo- Finish disassembly on all trim pieces. Pedal Car- Begin cutting and welding up frame.

              Tue: Acura- Block sand primed areas, prep blend areas for paint then wash vehicle and place in spray booth. Fire truck- Etch prime all bare metal spots then apply 2 full wet coats of primer. Monte Carlo- begin making templates to shave rear side marker lights on both driver and passenger quarter panels.

              Wed: Acura- Mask off vehicle then pre-clean, seal and paint. Fire Truck- Apply glazing putty to all needed areas then guide coat entire truck.  Monte Carlo- begin welding up side marker lamps on both quarter panels using templates that were made the day before.

              Thurs: Acura: Reassemble front bumper cover, buff head lights and prep for delivery. Fire truck- block sand all glazed areas and begin repairing dent on driver side which was looked over prior to priming.

              Fri: No Classes School testing

              Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

              Mon: No School MLK

              Tue: Fire truck- finish body work re prime only re worked areas. Monte Carlo- Continue welding rear side marker lamp openings. Pedal car- finish leveling out frame and finish up c- notch. Tahoe- remove front bumper cover and repair and prep for primer.

              Wed. Fire Truck- sand primed areas, smooth out entire exterior of vehicle w/ 320 followed by red scuff pad. Monte Carlo- grind welded areas and re- weld where necessary on rear side marker light openings. Pedal Car- make braces to strengthen frame from mods and mock up wheels and pedals for ride height. Tahoe- prep rest of bumper cover for blend and prime repair area.

              Thurs: Fire Truck: sand primed areas, smooth out entire exterior of vehicle w/ 320 followed by red scuff pad.Monte Carlo- grind welded areas and re- weld where necessary on rear side marker light openings. Pedal Car- set pedal mechanism height and weld into place/begin grinding down all welds. Tahoe- Clean/ place bumper cover in booth and paint.

              Fri- Fire Truck- Degrease undercarriage clean and prep for paint. Monte Carlo Grind welds and apply first coat of duraglass. Tahoe- clean vehicle and re- install front cover/prep for delivery.

            • 25 January - 31 January

              Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

              Mon: Fire truck- final sand/prep under carriage for paint. Monte Carlo- finish welding front fenders, grind welds and mud inner and outer patch panels. Pedal Car- continue metal fabrication on body.

              Tue: Fire Truck- Entire class will prep the truck for paint. Wheels , sand all out sides and mask for paint, wash and degrease tuck, clean out spray booth, mask any exposed non painted areas.

              Wed: Fire truck- Place truck in spray booth pre-clean, tack off and re check areas to paint. Monte Carlo- Block sand hood and finish lower quarter panel body work. Pedal car- Design/measure /mock up front end.

              Thurs: Entire Class will begin refinishing fire truck , 2 coats of sealer, 5 coats of base and 3 coats of clear( 5 students will stay all day to complete the refinishing process)

              Fri: Fire Truck- Remove fire truck from booth , finish masking wheels and misc. pieces and place in booth and pre-clean . Pedal Car- Measure and cut steel for front end and tack weld in place.

            • 1 February - 7 February

              Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

              Mon: Snow Day No School

              Tue: Fire truck- Half the class will begin the wet sanding process , entire truck will be sanded with 2000 grit. Monte Carlo- weld up rear body panel. Pedal Car- finish welding front end mods. Caviler-  replace right headlight assembly and realign headlight beam.

              Wed: Fire truck- Finish wet sanding all flat areas with 2000 wet. Monte Carlo- finish welding up rear body panel and grind welds smooth and place a thin layer of glazing putty, begin filling sail panel emblem holes.

              Thurs: Fire Truck - entire class will be placed on the fire truck, Group 1 will finish wet sanding up to 3000 wet followed by buffing with compound, group 2 will paint and clear wheels and rest of parts.

              Fri: Fire Truck- Group 1 will finish compound buffing truck, group 2 will be sanding and prepping steering column and drum brakes for black paint.

            • 8 February - 14 February

              Students will be placed in groups and take the knowledge they have learned in collision 1 and perform various tasks on vehicles in the shop.

              Mon: Fire Truck - Finish buffing fire truck body/unmask all wheels and prep for re-install. Monte Carlo- Begin welding up Diver door molding holes. Chevy Cruze- write damage estimate sheet, analysis damage determine which parts need replacing and which can be repaired.

              Tue: Fire Truck- wash/ Re-install wheels and adapters and remove from jack stands. Monte Carlo- finish welding up driver door and start on passenger door. Chevy Cruze- dis assemble front passenger door interior trim panel.

              Wed: Fire Truck- Re- Check all nuts and bolts and prep for delivery. Monte Carlo- Finish welding passenger door/prep for removal. pedal Car- Begin roof design/templates

              Thurs: PTC - No School

              For this week student s will be broken up into groups working on various vehicles in the shop using the knowledge and experiences they have learned from collison1. Each student will be graded on their ability to properly complete their tasks as well as follow personal and general shop safety rules.

              Tue: Cruze- wet sand and buff/polish passenger door and fender, reassemble front bumper cover. Monte Carlo- Weld up lower door and quarter panel molding holes. Civic- remove front axels.

              Wed: Cruze- Put front bumper cover on/.check lights and fitment, detail interior. Monte Carlo- continue welding lower door and quarter molding holes. Pedal Car- finish welding up front end.

              Thurs: Monte Carlo- Finish up all welding of lower molding holes, weld up rear deck lid lock holes. Pedal Car- Begin metal fabrication of roof. Civic- prep replacement engine.

              Fri: Field trip to auto show no classes

              For this week student s will be broken up into groups working on various vehicles in the shop using the knowledge and experiences they have learned from collison1. Each student will be graded on their ability to properly complete their tasks as well as follow personal and general shop safety rules.

              Mon: Pedal Car begin body work, Monte Carlo - remove doors/feather edge all primed spots, Tahoe replace front  passenger headlight and buff driver headlight.

              Tue: Pedal car- apply glazing putty then block, Monte Carlo- finish feather edging then place in spray booth and begin to mask all areas in need of primer. Tahoe- exterior wash /detail prep for delivery

              Wed: pedal car - finish body work clean and place in spray booth for primer, Monte Carlo- mask for primer, race car- weld up rear bumper holes

              Thurs: pedal car - guide coat/block primer. Monte Carlo- prime 3 Coats, race car- finish body work on driver fender/finish welding up holes in rear bumper.

              Fri: world of wheels pedal car sand all suspension parts and clan and place in booth and paint. Monte Carlo- Finish blocking all primed areas.

              Mon: World of wheels 57 Chevy- Wash/dry, begin buffing process compound entire truck, clean entire exhaust system, begin to restore original 1957 license plate. Monte Carlo- finish block sanding all primed areas. Race car bumpers- begin body work ( apply glazing putty to all areas in need)

              Tue: 57 Chevy Pick up- Finish buffing bed of truck, prime and apply base coat to 57 license plate( original color yellow). Monte Carlo- red scuff entire car check for any non sanded areas, followed by a extensive cleaning/prep vehicle for masking. Race Car-  bumpers sand repair areas glazing putty , re apply glazing putty as needed.

              Wed: 57 Chevy pick up- Polish entire truck, clean and polish all chrome, hand glaze all painted parts, put wheels back on and remove from jack stands. Prep trailer for loading , pack all supplies needed for show. Monte Carlo- place in spray booth and begin masking for primer.

              Thurs: Sub - first half of class students will complete world of wheels experience paper, Students will each complete a 3 to 5 paragraph essay on their world of wheels build experience. Second half students will watch how to build a car video accompanied by video worksheet.

              Mon: Altima- 70 impala- place on jack stands remove all 4 wheels and prep under carriage for under coating, Durango- finish body work on both driver and passenger quarter panels/prep both front and rear bumper covers for primer.

              Tue: 70 impala-wire wheel all lose rust/degrease/mask for undercoating application(3 coats), Durango- finish body work on quarter panels/repair rear door and passenger fender. 

              Wed: 70 impala- Paint underside of vehicle with transtar under coating finishes, Durango- block filler areas/begin feather edging repair areas.

              Thurs: 70 impala- wash final detail and prep for delivery, Durango- Finish featheredging all repair areas/clean/mask/prime.

              Mon: Durango- guide coat and sand both bumper covers/ block all primed repair areas on body. Caddy - sand deck lid and roof for re spray. F-350- Analyze vehicle repair/write repair plan.

              Tue: Durango- finish blocking primed areas/scuff pad blend areas/prep bumper covers for paint. Caddy- finish sand roof and deck lid. F-350- begin cutting and drilling out all spot welds on driver side (rocker panel and cab corner)

              Wed: Durango- paint bumper covers, pre clean truck and mask for paint. Caddy- finish sanding body/red scuff pad . F 350- Cut out driver rocker and cab corner and mock up new panels.

              Thurs:Durango finish masking pre clean and tack off. F 350 - Cut new panels ( look up vehicle measurements)  

              Fri: Durango- begin refinishing process. F-350 skip weld driver rocker/mock up cab corner

              For this week student s will be broken up into groups working on various vehicles in the shop using the knowledge and experiences they have learned from collison1. will also complete individual writing assignments.  Each student will be graded on their ability to properly complete their tasks as well as follow personal and general shop safety rules.

              Mon: Durango- wet sand and buff (compound) all repair areas. F- 350 - weld passenger rocker panel/remove driver door interior trim panel and mirror/ Caddy- scuff and pre clean

              Tue: Durango- finish buffing refinish areas. F-350 Weld all spot welds/grind passenger rocker panel/remove passenger side interior trim and mirror/ caddy- begin outline mask

              Wed: Durango- polish refinish areas/re-install rear bumper cover. F-350- remove driver door. Caddy- mask

              Thurs: Durango- interior detail/front bumper/grille reinstall. F-350- measure and cut driver door patch panel/remove roof lights and repair roof rust/ Caddy- mask

              Fri: Durango exterior detail/prep for delivery. F-350- weld new driver door patch panel/DA exterior for paint/prep/caddy- apply adhesion promoter and base coat.

                 Mon:  Monte Carlo- Continue buffing passenger side, sand roof 3000 followed by 5000 wet. Race car- finish masking wheel wells (measuring) apply 3 coats 2k primer (mixing ratio 4:1). Caddy – buff out scratches. VW- Remove rear bumper cover (use all data sheets for removal).

                Tue: Monte Carlo – Finish Sanding roof 3000 followed by 5000 wet, place doors and hood into spray booth prep for paint.  Race car- Apply glazing putty to any pinholes then guide coat all primed areas. VW- repair damages area followed by 2 coat of 2k primer (4:1 mixing ratio).

              • Wed: Monte Carlo- Buff roof (compound only) , Paint doors, deck lid, and hood (sealer 4:1 mixing ratio Base coat 1:1, cleat coat 2:1) Race Car- block hood and deck lid primer w/240 grit on block. VW- block primed area 320 grit followed by 2000 grit wet rest of blend area.

                Thurs: Monte Carlo- Begin wet sanding Doors, hood and deck lid (1500, 3000, 5000 grit). VW- paint rear cover (mix 10oz of base coat 1:1.5 mixing ratio, 2 coats of clear 4:1 mixing ratio). Acura- begin removing front bumper cover and passenger side fender using all data removal procedure sheets.

              • Fri: Monte Carlo- remove all masking from vehicle , begin prepping engine compartment for paint, Clean interior and prep for reassembly of interior panels, buff doors. VW- reassemble rear bumper cover using all data procedure sheets, wash, finial expect and prep for delivery.

            • 25 April - 1 May

              For this week student s will be broken up into groups working on various vehicles in the shop using the knowledge and experiences they have learned from collison1.   Each student will be graded on their ability to properly complete their tasks as well as follow personal and general shop safety rules.

              Sustained reading /writing

              Mon: Monte Carlo- Buff doors, Final clean interior/glass, organize all locks and belt moldings to be re-installed( check all tagged bags make re-install list). Race car- Final block passenger side 240 grit (mill thickness) Check for any waves and any missed dents. Acura- Use urethane stripper to strip painted bumper( mixing ratio 1:1.5) Safety data sheets ( proper stripper uses and safety precautions)Then re-prime 3 coats roberlo 2k primer 4:1 mixing ratio.

              Tue: Monte Carlo- Finish buffing doors, re-install passenger door( 5/16" bolts) (use proper torque specs, all data sheet), install new belt moldings on rear quarter glass (space out each screw 4". Race car- Final block  Driver side 240 grit (mill thickness) Check for any waves and any missed dents. Acura- sand primed bumper cover 320 grit followed by red scuff pad, then final clean and place in spray booth.

              Wed: Monte Carlo- Finish final door alignment (all data spec sheets), install truck locks (directions), install rear tail light mounting brackets (3/4" bolts), install front head light bezels. Race car- final clean re-mask for primer. Acura- Re- paint front bumper cover( mixing ratio base coat 1:1.5, clear 4:1).

              Thurs: Monte Carlo- Install front valance and hood latch ( 1/2 " bolts)( all data tech sheets). Race Car- Re prime 3 coats transtar 2k primer (mixing ratio 4:1). Acura- reinstall front bumper cover/ wash and prep for primer.

              Fri- Career path collision industry assignment. Students will be given a packet to read containing all career paths in the collision field. Students will have to choose 3 areas in the collision repair field that they feel they would like to do. Students will have to explain why they have chosen this area and why they should be chosen for this position.

            • 2 May - 8 May

              For this week student s will be doing both shop first half of class and studying for final exam second half of class. First half of class students will be broken up into groups working on various vehicles in the shop using the knowledge  and experiences they have learned from collison1.  Second half of class students will be working on review packet for final exam.  Each student will be graded on their ability to properly complete their tasks as well as follow personal and general shop safety rules.

              Mon: Monte Carlo- re-assemble front and rear bumpers as well as tail light assembly ( 3/4" bolts lave 1/2" gaps), finish buffing hood. Race car- 320 and red scuff driver door jamb, wet sand deck lid and hood 600 wet. Jeep- repair passenger quarter panel, remove rear bumper cover. (all data sheets)

              Tue: Monte Carlo- Begin reinstalling interior parts, install hood align gaps1/4". Race car- apply glazing putty in all paint chips and all needed areas. Race car- sand all mirrors and ground effect pieces 320 and red scuff.. Jeep- finish repairing quarter panel 40, 80,120 then feather edge, mask and prime.

              wed: first half of class  Monte Carlo- Install rubber gaskets on door, hood and trunk area. Race Car- begin blocking 320 grit. Jeep- prime repair area (4:1 mixing ratio 3 coats). Jeep- sand primed area and prep and was remainder areas for paint.  Second half of class students will work on review packets for final exam.

               

              Thurs: Monte Carlo- Finish installing interior pieces, begin polishing entire car. Jeep - Mask , clean and paint vehicle ( base 1:1/2 mixing ratio, sealer 4:1, clear 4:1) Second half of class students will work on review packets for final exam.

              Fri- Monte Carlo- Finish polishing detail for delivery. Jeep- put back together detail and prep for delivery. Second half of class students will work on review packets for final exam.
